Abstract

Recent advancements in sensor technologies have revolutionized the field of microfluidics, offering unprecedented capabilities for drug screening applications. Microfluidic devices, coupled with state-of-the-art sensors, enable precise manipulation and analysis of minute fluid volumes, facilitating high-throughput screening of drug candidates with enhanced accuracy and efficiency. This paper provides an overview of the key sensor technologies driving innovations in microfluidics for drug screening, including optical sensors, electrochemical sensors, and biosensors. We discuss their principles of operation, advantages, and applications in microfluidic platforms for drug discovery and development. Furthermore, we highlight recent research trends, challenges, and future prospects for leveraging sensor-enabled microfluidic systems to accelerate drug screening processes and improve therapeutic outcomes.
